Princess Diana’s family owns Spencer House -- a rare survivor of the great aristocratic palaces that once adorned London. Built in 1756-66 for the First Lord and Lady Spencer in a prime location overlooking Green Park, the house immediately became an important architectural landmark whilst the spectacular suite of State Rooms has played host to the social, political and cultural elite of each generation.
Spend an enlightening hour with an expert Blue Badge guide who will lead you on a tour of the State Rooms and bring the house alive as they explain the history of its architecture, interiors, and the seven generations of the Spencer family who lived here. Some of you may remember Diana’s fabled ancestor Georgiana, the Dutchess of Devonshire – society hostess and effective political influencer. With an impressive restoration (1985-1994,) Spencer House can once again be experienced in all its Georgian splendor including a significant collection of paintings and furniture.
Spencer House is steps from Buckingham Palace and stories claim that when Lady Di was dating then Prince Charles and the paparazzi were thronging outside “Buck House”, she fled to safety through a secret back gate into her family’s garden. And, you must visit the loo to see a delightful doll house.
This is a gem – easy to get to, Georgian era of “Bridgerton” and “Queen Charlotte”, and historically interesting. We have 15 tickets. If it fills, we can book a second tour at the same time if we get another 15 people, so please join the waitlist.

Meeting Point: Green Park tube station. Piccadilly exit (Southside) towards Buckingham Palace. Walk towards the Green Park and meet at the fountain.
Tour starts promptly at 11am and lasts 1 hour. Refreshments follow.
